Preparing For Life

Its Alot of things going on in my life. Some positive others negative.
I've been preparing for life, a real life. School= Career= Money = MY OWN. I don't know when i start school sometimes i have doubts about going. Is this for me? No school has never been anything i liked or love yes i was good at some subjects but still i didn't want to go i mean who really did. But college is different, if you want a better life sometimes you have to force your way through things and thats what im doing. Im trying to get by. Im trying to become what i want to be by doing something i hate to do lol.
I have to fill out FAFSA, I have run into a few road blocks but im still trying. Right now im waiting on my W-2 Form so i can enter my finance info. Im trying to get scholarships and grants but do they offer any to people who have been out of school for long? Most stuff i seen if for fresh out of high school. Maybe i should talk to my social Worker and see if he or the nurses and docs at my hospital can help me find some grants and stuff for my disabilities. All this stuff i feel will work out on its own i mean i barely have funds to pay so im trying to hurry and fill out the FAFSA the faster i do the greater chance of getting more money.
There is something that has been bothering me. You ever feel so stupid that you want to quit doing something positive? You just start thinking negative and feeling negative. Well i been feeling like crap. I haven't done math since 2006 and i have to take an ACCUPLACER Test. Its just a college skill assessment to see where i am mathmatically and english wise. English im great in, math.. no. The last date for Testing is February 27th. I Decided to go get a book to brush up on my math skills so i brought one from borders and it was helping me okay until i got to the part i hate.. Variables. Im stuck and its on the second chapter. I don't know what to do. I just dont understand it anymore its been so long i cant understand how they are getting what and everything. So im just like fuck it. Thats how i feel.
I haven't been up to the school yet for a tour or contacted the school for anything else once i was accepted i just ran with it. I have been trying to get my permit.
Another road block. I can't get it because somehow my mother lost my birth certificate and we just had it not to long ago i swear she is losing her mind. So now i have to go PAY to get another damn birth certificate that may take to long to recieve. Im trying to get my liscense before my state id expires and thats in july. But i don't know how long it will take to get a birth certificate they claim two weeks my friend is still waiting on her daughters and that was a month ago. Then i have to give the school 100 dollars for a spot in the class period i mean damn am i made from money?
I've just been secretly stressing. Keeping it all to myself.
Another thing, I hate my job..point blank.
You want this tag you can request it in my tag journal.

All the times I felt like giving up were the times I looked back on and thought "Damn, I'm glad I didn't give up." Hang in there.

Okay, just take a deep breath! Every thing will work out.

First, make a list of everything you need to do before school starts. Most schools start on Monday for the spring semester. You're not ready yet, so if it's thats close, you won't be able to start.

Yes, you must first file your FAFSA. After that comes back, then you will be able to file for financial aid.

You may not be able to start school until September, but don't get discourged.

The placement tests are pretty easy. Don't sweat over the math. If you do poorly, they'll start you at the math level you tested at.

After your placement tests, you need to meet with an advisor. She or he will help you register for your classes.

There are hundreds of scholorships out there for people of all ages. The school adivisor would be able to help you with that also.

Apply for a copy of your birth certificate on line. Kevin just did that last month. I think it was $12 for a copy and he had it within 3 mailing days. It was really quick.

Don't get discourged with the school process. You can do this!!

Cherry, I got my birth certificate just a few years ago (and mind you I was like 45 or 46 years old at the time) and it took just days....and I was in Montana at the time; I was born in Pennsylvania; I just had to print out a form, sign it, include a copy of my driver's license and I got it so very soon; when my son needed his (because I couldn't find it but later did) I just called over the phone to Oregon and got it within 3 days; so don't sweat that. Just make a list of what you need and start ordering it or working on it and you'll get it all done

look into getting a tutor to help with the math; the high school (no joke) might have some student kid who wants to earn some extra money and will help you with what you need to learn; I'd be the same after so many years

don't let these little things stop you; YOU HAVE GREAT POTENTIAL AND WILL MAKE A GREAT VET ASSISTANT; so keep on track!!!!

College is a scary place (at least to me, last time I went was in the middle 80's) I graduated high school in '78 and I have no idea what a lot of these "requirements" mean today! I mean, they either weren't around at all or they weren't part of the normal classes, they were one's that you could pick as an elective course. That make sense? I'm like you too about English and bad at Math, the people that love math make it sound SO easy LOL to me? it's like trying to find my way out of a maze. Other than addition, subtraction, multiples, division and a bit of fractions I have had NO use for anything more than that... jeez.
I hope you get it all figured out and I wish you all the best Diama...and it's great that you have the incentive to make something of yourself. Wish I had done the same thing. Blessings* Teresa

Dang Diama... You sound so stressed out. Things are never as bad as we imagine them to be. Don't you dare give up. Once you get in school things will settle down. You need to stop being so negative Girl. I'll bet you will love it once you are there and as smart as you are, you will do well.
Great Big Hugs, Joyce

Girl, you're making this happen though! I'm so proud of you.

I was great in math in highschool and college. I don't know what I would do if I had to try anything but the basics now lol.

It must be pretty hard for you without the aggro of getting another birth certificate. I do hope you can get your head round the maths book. Best of luck with it all. I've started a New journal here. Jeannette xx

D, if you are on disability, why are you going to college? Are you wanting to get a job? What are you interested in pursuing? Being on disability means you are unable to work. Will this mess up your disability?

I hate math too. Hugs and hang in there! Nice stopping by to see how you are doing. We are all doing well here in Kentucky. Do you have snow?
